Code of Conduct

Participation in Rogue League is in accordance with our Code of Conduct.

Calling Fouls

Player Recognition: When a foul occurs, players involved in the play or those with the best perspective on the incident recognize the foul.

Call Made: The player who recognizes the foul makes a call by verbally indicating the foul to nearby players to stop play.

Discussion: Players involved in the foul may briefly discuss the incident to resolve any disagreements or clarify the nature of the foul.

Intervention: If the players cannot resolve the foul themselves, they may call for the nearby players. Nearby players should not intervene unless requested.

Decision:

  • If it is decided that a foul did occur, an indirect free kick will be awarded from the spot of the foul, or a direct penalty kick if the foul was inside the box.
  • If it is decided that a foul did not occur, the player who had possession of the ball will be awarded an indirect free kick from the point where the ball was when the call was made.
  • If no decision can be reached, the result will be a goal kick for the team who had possession of the ball when the call was made.

Fair Play: Regardless of the outcome, players are expected to respect each other's decision and continue playing in the spirit of fair competition.

Course of Play

  • Teams shall field 9 players at a time. If, excepting playoff and championship games, both teams agree to play 8v8 or 10v10, this is allowed.
  • There is not an off-side rule.
  • All free kicks (including kick-offs, goal kicks, and corner kicks) are indirect except for penalty kicks.
  • Opposing teams must give all free kicks seven yards.
  • Substitutions are unlimited, and may be made on the fly, so long as the player subbing out is completely out of the field of play before the player subbing in enters AND the subbing team does not receive an advantage from the substitution.

Safety

  • Slide tackling and high kicks are not allowed for player safety.
  • Hazardous play during games should be reported to the league organizers and relevant team captains.

Game Duration

  • Games will consist of two 25 minute periods.
  • Games have a 5 minute halftime break.
  • Game time will be recorded by one of the league organizers or a designated team captain.

Standings

League points will be appointed as follows:

  • Win = 3 points
  • Draw = 1 point
  • Loss = 0 points
  • Forfeit = -1

Forfeit Rule

  • Teams have a grace period before kickoff to field the required minimum number of players.
  • If a game cannot be played because of a lack of players, the offending team will have 1 point deducted from their total. The result will counted as a 3-0 win for the non-offending team.

Playoffs

  • Playoff eligibility requires formal rostering and adherence to league rules.
  • In the case of a tie in a playoff game, the result of the game will be determined by a best of 5 penalty shootout. The home team will take the first penalty kick of the shootout.
